Babytree (babytree.com) completed the US$10M follow-on investment and the website officially removed "BETA VERSION", Babytree announced on March 9. When coming to this investment, industry insiders said the domestic infant industry is embracing fast growth and attracting much attention from venture capitalists.
Babytree is positioned to build a paternity community in which doting parents can get advice on child-rearing and other family matters. It has also forged an online platform for parents to share experience. Since its launch on March 8, 2007, the company garnered venture capital investment from Matrix Partners and Bo Shao, who joined Matrix Partners as a General Partner in 2007 and is also a co-founder and director of Babytree. According to CEO Allen Wang, the second round investment is enough for product innovation. Besides, the proceeds will also be used for forging the leading child-bearing community in China to develop sustained business model and generate profits.
Babytree is attempting the "click and brick" model. It launched the first early education center on January 27, 2008.
