NIF SMBC Ventures Asia (Hong Kong), the Asia headquarter of NIF SMBC Ventures, led a group of investors (including iDTech Ventures) in a multi-million US Dollars Series C investment in a leading online language learning service provider in China, 100e.com Inc. ("100e"), on 29 March, 2008.

100e is a leading Online Language Learning and Communication Platform service provider, delivering multi-language learning and communication services through Internet and mobile interactive multimedia technologies to communities aggregated by interests, preferences, and locations around the world.

This capital infusion is expected to provide further growth momentum for 100e to become China's largest online language learning service provider and expansion into other Asian countries.

According to the World Bank, China has approximately 260million population from preschool to the tertiary level and approximately 750million of labor force needs to upgrade its skills (including language skills). Compared to other major countries around the world, China's public education spending is one of the lowest, at less than 3% of the GDP, compared to an average of 4-6% in other major countries.

100e is well positioned to take advantage of its information and communication technologies in developing a cost effective and scalable distance and internet-based learning to expand China's language learning capacities for the whole society.
