Byecity.com announced days ago that it secured first-round about US$10M from JAFCO Asia and Investor Growth Capital (IGC). IGC firstly invested in a China tourism company.
Byecity.com was launched in 1999 by its founder Song Zeng who invested Byecity Technology and then operated the tourism business with E-commerce model. In 2004, Mr. Zeng staked in Huayuan Tours and Huayuan Air Services to conduct direct sales service for consumers and enterprise clients. Currently, the core business of Byecity.com is "traditional travel agency plus E-commerce". Moreover, it is the first developer of GDS (global distribution system) across China.
Reportedly, the company signed a strategic agreement with Italy-based Costa Crociere S.P.A, becoming China's first travel agency independently providing two Costa crociere airlines.
