US-based venture capital firm Lightspeed Venture Partners (Lightspeed) announced on June 17, 2008 the appointment of James Mi who accumulated rich experience in IT investment as its managing director in China. Mr. Mi will work at Lightspeed's Beijing office and be responsible for the company's investments in China. Currently, the committed capital of Lightspeed exceeds US$2B.
Headquartered in Silicon Valley, US, Lightspeed established offices in China, India and Israel. Since 2004, the company began investing in China, and launched its Shanghai office in 2006. The investee companies include 99Bill.com, Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc., GMedia, Kaiyuan Engineering Machine and Lepai TV Shopping, etc.
Prior to joining Lightspeed, Mr. Mi served as Investment M&A Director for Google's Greater China Operation where he accumulated abundant experience and conducted investment deals, such as Baidu.com, Tianya.com and Xunlei.com, etc.
