On July 7, the Europe's biggest PE firm CVC Capital Partners formally declared the establishment of its Beijing office that Wei Zhu, the former investment banking business director at Goldman Sachs Group has joined CVC, serving as the Managing Director of CVC China as well as the head of Beijing office.
Just two months before news release, CVC collected US$4.1 billion from international institutional investors and established the third Asia Pacific-focused fund (The fund is the largest fund in the Asia & Pacific area in terms of the total capital under management). When talking about the investment strategy & preference, Wei Zhu said, "Though there is no specific investment ratio for different regions, China is no doubt one of the regions attracting us mostly."
Botao Liang, the Senior Consultant of the company, expressed further that though there are some challenges facing China¡¯s economy, China is still the most competent and attractive economic community in the world for the long run.
